The surrounding area offers delightful rural walks with the nearby Norman church and the pretty village of East Coker beloved by T. S. Elliot. The Jurassic Coast with its fossil rich beaches and coves is also close by. The property is conveniently placed for exploring the surrounding attractions such as the Fleet Air Arm Museum. For those wishing to travel a little further afield the popular attraction of Cheddar Gorge with its impressive underground caves caverns and extraordinary formations is an hour s drive away and well worth a visit. The bustling market town of Yeovil is 4 miles away with a wealth of bars and restaurants to choose from along with plenty of shops should you wish to partake in a little retail therapy. There are many National Trust properties in the surrounding area the magnificent Montacute House being one. Leisure activities: guests are invited to use the 142 acres reservoir on site where fishing and water sports such as kayaking and yachting are possible. Holistic therapies available on site. Wandering around the cathedral close, with its unspoilt medieval lanes is like taking a step back in time. And for a real sense of mystery, there’s Glastonbury (home of the world-famous music festival), supposedly the site of King Arthur’s mythical Avalon. All await you on one of our Somerset cottage holidays. The county has more than its fair share of beach resorts too. The Grand Pier at Weston-Super-Mare is superb, as is the wide beach here, while Minehead and Burnham-on-Sea offer a choice of traditional seaside pleasures. Meanwhile, for nature lovers there’s the wild landscape of Exmoor, and the Mendip and Quantock Hills, both Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cheddar Gorge is truly stunning. Great for real Cheddar cheese too!
